The danger of any human attempt to replace God with a substitute god is alarming. The wisdom of God compared to the wisdom of man is like comparing a drop of water to the ocean.
God is Omniscient, there is nothing that He does not know. Man, on the other hand, is continuously learning because he has been granted that ability by God. Man has nothing to boast about, nothing to discover that is greater or equivalent to God. God is infinite and man’s intelligence no matter how great is finite. God is eternal; man is temporary. Paul stated that compared to Christ everything was rubbish (Philippians 3:8).
Isaiah wrote in chapter 40 verses 12-17 the following:
“Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hands, or with the breadth of his hand marked off the heavens? Who has held the dust of the earth in a basket or weighed the mountains on the scales and the hills in the balance? Who can fathom the Spirit of the Lord, or instruct the Lord as his counselor? Whom did the Lord consult to enlighten him, and who taught him the right way? Who was it that taught him knowledge, or showed him the path of understanding? Surely the nations are like a drop in a bucket; they are regarded as dust on the scales; he weighs the islands as though they were fine dust. Lebanon is not sufficient for altar fires, nor its animals enough for burnt offerings. Before him all the nations are as nothing; they are regarded by him as worthless and less than nothing.”
God holds the power of life and death. What matters most in this life is life after this life. What matters most is not what man can accomplish but what God has already accomplished. Man was created by God, man is not to create his own gods as Pastor Jack Hibbs points out in the video below. The Tower of Babel must surely come to mind as we see man seeking his own prideful accomplishments. But we know the verse do we not? Pride goes before a fall!
Paul wrote the following in 1 Corinthians 1:18-25:
“For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. For it is written:’I will destroy the wisdom of the wise; the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate.’
Where is the wise person? Where is the teacher of the law? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe. Jews demand signs and Greeks look for wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles, but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength.”
