I Am, I Am Not

Am I a Christian or am I not? There are only two kinds of people in the eyes of God.

Saved or Unsaved. Those who are Christians identify with Christ and say “I AM”. What about those who are not?

A woman who is pregnant knows it and she can say with confidence “I AM”.

We have a life inside or we don’t. In the same way, all Christians who are born again have received the Seed of Christ (eternal life) into his or her heart.

Peter says that we are born again with Imperishable Seed (1 Peter 1:23). When we receive that Seed, we are born again into a new creation.

Yes, we all were born once by our earthly fathers seed (perishable seed) but we need to be born again a second time (imperishable seed).

I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life. John 5:24

What does it take to cross over? What does it take to receive the spiritual Seed? BELIEF

Believing God’s Word is taking the Seed into the heart and becoming spiritually pregnant. We see Christ using this example in the Parable of the Sower (Matthew 13:1-8).

Three hearts were unable to receive the Seed (barren) but the fertile heart was able to take root and bear fruit 30, 60 or 100 fold. Jesus said “by their fruits you shall know them.”

Fruit is the evidence that confirms an “I AM” life. Christ is the Seed, we are the soil, obedience to the Word of God and the Holy Spirit produces the

fruit – love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, kindness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control (Galatians 5:22-23).

Three times in John 18, Jesus said “I AM”. It cost Him His life because by revealing His divinity, He offended the religious and political leaders so much that they put Him to death.

Three times in John 18, Peter denied Jesus and said “I AM NOT”. But even after these denials, Christ did not condemn him. Rather, He graciously forgave and restored Peter.

Where are you with God today? He wants you to have the full assurance of eternal life so that you can say “I AM” saved.

Now there was a Pharisee, a man named Nicodemus who was a member of the Jewish ruling council. He came to Jesus at night and said, “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the signs you are doing if God were not with him.” Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.” “How can someone be born when they are old?” Nicodemus asked. “Surely they cannot enter a second time into their mother’s womb to be born!” Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again.’ The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.” John 3:1-8
