Happy New Year!

candelight

2022 is a year that may be very happy or very unhappy, we don’t know the circumstances beforehand do we?

But, it is safe to say that God wants us to have an inner joy and peace that is not subject to the ups and downs of life.

Joy and happiness are two different things. Joy is an internal condition of our spirit and soul. Happiness is an external condition

often dependent on other people or other things – much of it out of our control.

Actually, Jesus said that in this world, we would have tribulation so we should not be shocked if things are far from perfect.

We can have a perfect internal peace according to Isaiah 26:3

You will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you because he trusts in you.

We are commanded by God to be thankful in every circumstance (1 Thessalonians 5:18) and to rejoice in the Lord always (5:16) and to pray without ceasing (5:17).

Our hearts and minds need to be on things above not on earthly things. We walk by faith not by sight. Our future is secure in Christ and He will take us through whatever the future may hold.

All of this requires faith. We must make Christ the Rock of our lives to withstand the storms of life in 2022 and beyond. Mental health equals faith in Christ plus nothing. Christ must be our complete sufficiency for whatever we must face in 2022

Where is your faith today? What are you building your new year on? Anything other than Christ is sand and will not keep us through the future beyond this earthly life. We were created by Christ for Christ and our future belongs to Him (Colossians 1:16).

Let’s re-dedicate our lives to Him this year as He has certainly loved us first and desires that our love for Him to be above all other priorities.

But God demonstrates His love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8

Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall. And so it was, when

Jesus had ended these sayings, that the people were astonished at His teaching, for He taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes. Matthew 7:24-29
