No doubt about it, lots of graphic images reflecting death abound during Halloween.
For that reason, many are either participating in or withdrawing from the event.
Either way, this article is intended to think past the topic of death and give value to life which is beyond Halloween. In other words, death is not the end of the story.
Rather, death is a door to life. We do not cease to exist after death. We were made by God to transition from death to life. Let’s not miss this very real spiritual fact.
Christ came to conquer death. He is our Savior from death. He sets us free from the fear of death.
Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might break the power of him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil— and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death. For surely it is not angels he helps, but Abraham’s descendants. For this reason he had to be made like them, fully human in every way, in order that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, and that he might make atonement for the sins of the people. Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted. Hebrews 4:14-18
If we are in Christ, death has no power over us. By faith we need to know that our souls will live forever in heaven or in hell. Without Christ, there is reason to be very concerned about death because we will live forever in one of two places – heaven or hell. If our sins are forgiven, we will be declared not guilty and live forever in heaven. If our sins are not forgiven, we will live forever separated from God.
