God’s Chosen People – the Jews

Woman is praying and believing

God has chosen the Jewish people to be not only the channel but also the object of His salvation. God wrote 39 books in the Old Testament of the Bible to point to the 27 books of the New Testament.

Jesus was a Jew, most of the New Testament was written by Jews. The number of Old Testament verses quoted in the New Testament are so high that they make the Bible what it is, one book written by one God for all men for all time. But, when it comes to being a Jew, there is a profound history that makes the future come alive in dramatic fashion.

If you listen to this one hour message (see below) from Jack Hibbs, you will see the beautiful overlap between Old and New. If you are Jewish, open your heart to the love of God specifically revealed to you in this message. If you are not a Jew, consider Jack’s invitation to share this message with the Jewish people. All Christians whether Jew or non-Jew (Gentile) are one family. We are brothers and sisters in Christ by one Spirit to the Father. In the verse below, the Gentiles are the uncircumcised and the Jews are the circumcised in these verses. Gentiles were “far off” but the Jews were “near”.

All of us were brought together in unity as one body through Christ (the Messiah). God destroyed the separations to make it possible for us to be reconciled to God and to one another.

Therefore remember that you, once Gentiles in the flesh—who are called Uncircumcision by what is called the Circumcision made in the flesh by hands— that at that time you were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world. But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation, having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, so as to create in Himself one new man from the two, thus making peace, and that He might reconcile them both to God in one body through the cross, thereby putting to death the enmity. And He came and preached peace to you who were afar off and to those who were near. For through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father.

All of us are in the plan of God. Israel is central to that plan. That plan seeks to unite not divide. The Jewish people are God’s Chosen People within that plan.
