What will the year 2023 bring? Anything is possible so we need to be ready for anything. There will be good, there will be bad. Life is bittersweet. We live in an imperfect world that according to God is a transition to a perfect world – heaven. In the meantime, God exhorts us to think about heaven as we live in this temporary holding pattern. That requires faith which is belief in what we cannot see. Romans 1 tells us that the righteous will live by faith from first to last. The question is where is our faith? In this world or in the Word of God?
We cannot possibly find perfection in anything in this world. Everything is wasting away. We can try to delay the law of entropy but we cannot stop it. A sober view of life recognizes that nothing lasts forever instead everything, sooner or later, will pass away.
If we have a wrong approach on life, it can cause disillusionment. We can’t escape entropy, we can’t escape death, we cannot find perfection in this world. Listen to Jesus. He said that in this world we would have tribulation but that we would overcome if we place our faith in Him (John 16:33).
Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away. This verse appears below within the prophecy of the end of this world. Jesus Christ is coming a second time. We just celebrated His first coming at Christmas, now He promises to come again (perhaps we could call it Christmas 2.0). It might be in 2023; we do not know. Christ calls us to be ready because it will be like a thief in the night – suddenly, surprisingly and shockingly. If our faith is in Christ, our house will not crash when the storms of life strike. But, if our faith is in anything else, it is like a house built on sand. Matthew 7:24-27.
MATTHEW 24:29-35
